This home improvement project was an opportunity to explore permitted disruptions within an archetypical housing setting. The addition of an extended outdoor terrace with an open, timber-clad  cantilevered canopy was designed as a floating connection of internal functions to outdoor engagement. The provocative v-tapered forms of both terrace slab and overhead canopy planes are intended to convey a reach towards the vibrant cityscape view, with the suspended v-point of the terrace as an observation deck to enjoy the outward to internal, day to night views. These 2 planes are connected by timber-clad, steelpipe posts. Concrete treads welded onto steel stringers connect to the lower terrain level where a redesigned landscaping invites yet another level of outdoor engagement with concrete and white stone entertaining forecourt and a paved walkway connecting to a circular seating podium hugged with lush greenery.
